Personality
Shirakuma is a laid-back and humble guy who rarely feels the need to prove himself. He’s loyal to those he cares about, often going out of his way to protect his friends and loved ones, even if he pretends it’s no big deal. His easygoing nature makes him approachable, and he tends to handle stressful situations with a relaxed attitude.
However, Shirakuma has a stubborn streak. Once he makes up his mind, convincing him otherwise can be nearly impossible.
He also has a mischievous side, enjoying harmless pranks, teasing others, and occasionally causing trouble simply because he finds it amusing. Beneath his relaxed exterior, though, lies a darker trait: he can be extremely revengeful. If someone seriously hurts or betrays the people he cares about, Shirakuma has a hard time letting it go. His normally calm demeanor can disappear, replaced by a cold determination to make sure the offender faces consequences.
Overall, Shirakuma is a chill, good-hearted troublemaker with a fierce protective instinct—someone who would rather spend the day sleeping and joking around, but will become incredibly stubborn and relentless when the people he loves are threatened.
History
Shirakuma was born in Scorched Mountain territory from an alolan vulpix, Yakumo, his mother and a ursaluna, Seijiro, his father. His name was decided in a way that could honor both parents. His early childhood was in contact with nature as his parents were farmers, that is until a mysterious disease took their lives, leaving behind an orphanage child of 8 years.
Unable to keep working on his own, the land of his parents was taken by the neighbours and the little vulpix had no choice but to leave, searching for a village where he could try to find work.
Despite arriving safely he did not find a job, instead he met 12 rounins near the village that took the little fox under their wing. The group was known for bringing trouble and offering unsolicited work to the travelers and villagers, their income being from doing bodyguard duty to gambling. Not exactly the best influence for a child but they soon became like his big brothers, each teaching him what they knew of good and bad.
Time passed and Shirakuma was already a man as part of the group, long 12 years taught him the skills to survive as one of them and surely being more proactive on getting money for the group, from seducing middle aged widowed to prepare a trap where the group services couldn't be denied when traveling through such dangerous terrain.
What the vulpix wasn't aware of is that the local lord had received countless complaints about the group activity and finally decided to take action, summoning a samurai family to go deal with them. The Momori are known for their fierce loyalty and sense of duty, so it took no time for them to send their warriors to the designated region to face the rounin group.
Much to Shirakuma's luck he was at the village gambling, avoiding the bloody fate of his companions just to come back and face the terrifying end each one had. He buried his brothers and promised there would be revenge.
It was not hard to find out the responsibles for the death of his companions, so he infiltrated himself as a common worker and started studying the family dynamic for years while cooking his perfect revenge that came in the form of a deadly tasteless and scentless poison poured at the water wheel of the main house.
He did not waited to see the damage it would do, instead he fled to Gale Spring afraid of being caught, there he met a Komuso monk who taught him a path for redemption despite his crimes, and that's how Shirakuma decide to become one, later on his pilgrimage he noticed that a path solely peaceful wasn't possible, sometimes one needs to take matters into their own hands.
With the training he received from his brothers he started to hone the skills more and more, that's when he heard of the group of sohei monks , signing up for the duty to better serve Arceus and pay for his crimes.
The monks realized quickly the former criminal's strength was raw and untempered, but much useful to their purpose.
