Kiri

Kiri’s earliest memories are of an abandoned house and a twin brother who never left his side. After being abandoned by their birth family, the twins survived on their own until a traveling treasure hunter sought shelter in their old crumbling home from a storm. Unable to leave them behind, the treasure hunter adopted the boys and brought them to his grandfather’s shrine dedicated to the Weather Kami; Tornadus, Thundurus, Landorus, and Enamorus.

At the shrine, Kiri found stability, family, and purpose. Along with his brother, he helped to take care of the shrine. He helped the treasure hunter’s father by making regular trips into the nearby village. Raised on stories of distant lands and ancient gods, Kiri developed a deep respect for the Kami Gods and a quiet curiosity about the world beyond the shrine. Even when believers started to drift towards more popular gods like Lady Arceus,, Kiri was very devout to the traditional gods of the world.

Although Kiri did not mind his mundane life, he secretly dreamed of one day exploring the world like his adoptive father. His father brought treasures and stories every time he visited. Eventually, his father stopped returning altogether. While his grandfather insisted that he had simply missed him, Kiri knew better.

As the years passed, Kiri remained patient and devoted to the shrine, while his more restless twin longed to search for answers about their father.

Their lives changed when they befriended a young traveler who shared their faith in the Kami. Unfortunately, the traveler was not as devout as he claimed to be. After wandering by their shrine, the traveller established a friendship with Kiri’s older brother. The two dreamed of building new shrines across the Sun Empire, where worship for the old gods would be revived. The stranger offered a religious haven for Kiri and his brother to join; claiming that it would give them resources to maintain their shrine and connections needed for their missing father (cult).

Unlike his impulsive brother, Kiri, strongly opposed the idea. To Kiri, life with his grandfather and the mundane life of maintaining the shrine was enough. As the stranger stayed, disagreements and tension grew between Kiri and his brother.

In the end… Kiri’s brother chose to pursue the religious group… without any word or warning… he left…

When the traveler came back with no brother, he revealed that he held no respect to the Kami. He believed that the way of the old gods should be purged and that only the newer gods like Areceus should be at the center of worship. In an act of “devout faith” to his god, he decided to set the sacred grounds ablaze. Even though Kiri was able to rescue his grandfather… his shrine was lost… his home was lost.

To the present day, Kiri is certain that his brother was out in the greater part of the world (it was a twin connection). Kiri made a promise to his grandfather that he would find his brother, so the two of them could give his brother a well deserved smack for up and abandoning them both.

Kiri now travels as an explorer in hopes of one day finding either his father or his brother. Determined to reunite his family, Kiri set out across the Sun Kingdom as an explorer, searching for clues about both his brother and adoptive father.
Although he may seem serious, Kiri secretly enjoys energetic and hyperactive people because they remind him of his older twin brother. Their spontaneity often pushes him outside his comfort zone, and while he would never openly admit it, he genuinely enjoys the excitement they bring into his life.

When Kiri senses a threat or becomes irritated,he may unconsciously growl and bare his teeth and folds his ears against his head.
He once tried sake that his brother snuck back from the village. Despite only a few sips, he turned out to be a complete lightweight emotional drunk, complete with hiccups.
Whenever he hears music, he instinctively tilts his head to the side while trying to identify the singular sounds he hears (Ex. guitar strings)
He speakers respectfully and frequently uses honorifics such as -san, -kun, sir or mistress
Although loud and energetic people can overwhelm him, he finds comfort because they remind him of his brother. Ironically, extroverts seemed to be drawn to him. Their spontaneity often pushes him outside his comfort zone, and while he would never openly admit it, he genuinely enjoys the excitement they bring into his life.
Kiri loves his twin brother. They are in fact fraternal, so while they hold similar characteristics, they do not look the same. They are often mistaken as identical twins. (Kir is the younger of the two)
He has a high sensitivity to strong smells. While he enjoys the scents of flowers, they often leave him sneezing repeatedly.
Kiri keeps wire-wrapped knives around his arms, where he is alert at all times. His guarded nature reflects his difficulty trusting unfamiliar people.
Despite his fluffy appearance, Kiri dislikes physical contact from most people. Only those who have earned his trust are allowed to pet or cuddle him.
If his personal space is invaded, he will step away or gently push them aside (out of love)
